Cold front..

We have finally arrived at the Memorial Day weekend here in the US. This is a three-day weekend for many of us. My DW and I are off from work until Tuesday. DS1 has to work tomorrow and then he has two days off. DS2 has to work tomorrow and yes, DS3 starts his summer job tomorrow at 7 am. Bright and early, as it were. By 7 am tomorrow everyone except for us old people should be at work. I think I like that.

This morning the temperatures were in the mid 60’s and humid. Around noon time today a cold front brought rain and wind to the Jersey shore. The temperature right now 8:45 pm is 46 degrees. I am concerned about some of our plant and the cold weather.

Dinner was pizza and shrimp cocktail. We stayed home this Friday night. We did sign up for a free month of Netflix today. We got a new smart tv last weekend.  We never had Netflix before so we will see if the service is worth the 7.99 a month.

Short and sweet tonight. A picture seals the deal. Enjoy!

A turtle on the Hillsbrough River – Feburary 22, 2013

So close yet so far..

This post includes a link to a photo shoot in Bradley Beach and Avon By the Sea.   This afternoon I took my roast beef sandwich and drove to Avon By the Sea to see how they fared and if they were ready for Memorial Day. Avon By the Sea and Bradley Beach are two towns just north of Belmar.  Yesterday’s blog was focused on the rebuilding of the boardwalk and beaches in Belmar. As I drove through Belmar today, part of Ocean Ave was closed to traffic. There were news trucks setting up for the governors visit. I guess it was sound bite time to let the world know that the beaches are open the boardwalk (mostly) is open for business.

Once I got over the drawbridge that crosses the Shark River, I drove north along the ocean looking for places to park and take pictures. I am happy to report that Bradley Beach has their parking meters installed. Not yet in Avon By the Sea nor Belmar for that matter. They still have two days to resolve that dilemma.  I stopped at various points and took some pictures. The link to those pictures is here.  After I finished taking my pictures, I got stuck at the drawbridge while a fishing boat went under and out into the ocean.  Once on the other side of the drawbridge, the roadblocks were gone and the news trucks were closed up.  So close to the governor, yet so far.  Maybe next time.

DS3 and I went to Manalapan to play lacrosse tonight.   I did not have any goals.  Neither did he. Somehow we wound up on opposite teams. I really wanted to play on the same team as him. He might, might, pass me the ball..

Here are a few pictures from todays photo shoot.  Enjoy!

This post is number 550..

Really!  I’m stumped, that’s for sure.  Today DS3 arrived home from college. He was on LI with his girlfriend for the past few days.  Everybody is back home, yea!  No really, YEA!  Now I just have to figure out where all the cars will be parked when DS1 brings home the big red truck at night. And who has to get figured into the bathroom schedule in the morning.  It will all work out. My DW and I went to yoga tonight. Next Tuesday is the last adult school yoga until October.  We will have to find a Tuesday night class somewhere to attend over the summer.

Today for lunch I took my ham and cheese sandwich down to Belmar (aka Almost Ground Zero for Sandy) to see how they were doing with the rebuilding of the boardwalk. As you can imagine, I shot a few pictures, well actually a lot of pictures. The big question is, Will they be ready for this weekend? My answer is kind of. The boardwalk itself is complete. The ADA ramps and the stairs are still under construction. And the worst part is… they haven’t yet installed the parking meters along Ocean Ave!  I am willing to be bet that the meters will be installed and working by Friday, noontime at the latest. This is NJ after all.

Here are a few pictures from the photo shoot today.  Here is a link to the entire set of pictures.  Enjoy!
